While some schools in the region have closed early as a result of the early downpours.
A DXB spokesperson said: “Dubai International (DXB) is experiencing operational disruption and water logging in some parts of the facility due to the heavy rains this morning.
“We urge customers to check for updated flight information on our website dubaiairports.ae or websites of their respective airlines. The safety and comfort of our passengers is our top priority and Dubai Airports is working with service partners at DXB to normalise operations and minimise inconvenience to our customers.”
According to reports, GEMS Winchester School – Dubai, GEMS Our Own Indian School, and Dubai Scholars School have all contacted parents about closing early.
The heavy rain caused chaos across the country on Wednesday morning, with localised flooding in parts of Dubai and the Northern Emirates and forecasters warning of strong winds and rough seas.
